Hey everyone,
the cosplay shop Cosplaysky offered me to review another costume from their store. I already reviewed this Idolmaster costume for them and liked the quality beside some minor issues. So I was happy to yet review another outfit for them.
Usually when a shop askes me to review, I pick costumes I would not have done otherwise and this time I chose Esdeath. Here I will talk about both: good and bad parts.
The costume is sponsored (means I did not pay for the product. I got it to review it for the shop). Otherwise if I would have ordered these products from the store website, I would have paid 175 USD (with shipping to Germany).
Here is my detailed review~…
So, I ordered the costume in size S. According to the size chart it would have fit at bust and hips in this size and I would have needed to sew it just a few cm smaller on the waist. Unhappily, instead of around 6-8cm too much size on the waist, it arrived with around 25cm too big. So this will take some time to adjust to my waist line.
I put the costume on my dressform and noticed yet another problem. The inside lining was crooked and reached out from the bottom.
So I ended up taking out the whole inside lining and tried to adjust the waist line to my own body. It took around 4h to make it nicely, so then it finally fit my body shape.
Here are a few detail shots of the costume with all parts that were included in the costume:
Yet another issue I had with the boots. They are suppost to have the same color as the dress according to the original character, but they were white, meanwhile the outfit was like beige. Happily on photos the difference was not very visible! Also a problem was, that I could not really bend my knee in these overknee boots, so I had to make some cuts on the height of the knee (see pictures) so be able to move better in them. I gave my shoe size and foot meassurements, but sadly the boots were a bit too small.
Alright, so let’s break down PROs and CONs about this costume:
POSITIVE:
– after I made the changes, I actually really liked thed costume on myself. I felt pretty and happy in it
– I like the fabric choices
– the seams are clean
– the product I got looks exactly like the product shown in the online shop, so they definitely use their own photos in the shop
NEGATIVE:
– it was sadly way too big around the waist and took me long time to adjust. I recommend to buy a size smaller than you actually would go for
– the inside lining was crooked and reached out from the bottom. I had to cut it out.
– the boots were too small and I could not bend the know I recommend to order one size bigger than you actually would go for
– the hat was a bit too tight to be worn on a head when you have a wig on and started to hurt after a while
So, all in all it was like 50/50 good and bad for me. I ended up liking my photos and liking myself in the costume. If I would have been a normal customer who would have paid 175 USD for the whole products with shipping, I think I would have been a bit disappointed to still adjust so much. Happily, I felt pretty in this and I end up with a happy feeling.
