Hey everyone,
so the cosplay shop Uwowo Cosplay offered me to review one of their outfits. I chose Alice from SINoALICE mobile game. The costume is produced by ASCOSING and Uwowo has it in their shop as a reselling agent. So the brand is Ascosing and the shop who gave it to me is Uwowo.
The costume is sponsored by Uwowo and given to me to review. If I would have been a normal customer, I would have paid 99 USD for the costume + 8.50 USD for the wig + 27 USD shipping to Germany (40 USD if customer would take the faster shipping) = 134.50 USD – 147.50 USD (depending on which shipping method is chosen).
So let’s start with this!
Little story about this first:
They shipped this costume to me end of October 2017. It arrived early November 2017 but there was a problem. They forgot to send me the belt and the necklace for the outfit. They were in holiday sales stress, so me as a sponsored cosplayer had to wait till all orders for the normal customers are shipped till they could take care of my missing part. Which is absolutely understandable.
Then they shipped another packet to me, BUT when it arrived and I packed it out, I saw that accidentally a worker there made a mistake. They shipped to me the whole outfit a 2nd time and again: missing the belt XD. It was now end of January and I guess at some point I got quiet upset about this costume issue. I already booked a photographer and scheduled a shoot now twice and had to cancel it because of problems with the costume.
BUT, even during this time the customer service stayed patient with me and they tried to handle the problem. Apparently there was a worker who did way too many mistakes (who now does not work there anymore). So after now 3 month I finally got a complete outfit send and here we are to make an review about it. They were sorry about the issue.
So let’s look at each piece and I tell you some things about the costume parts that are included. There are A LOT of parts included in this, so sorry when I flood you with pictures now.
They send me (like told above) 2 costumes. One in size S and one in Size M.
As always I will be super nidpicking and talk about every tiny thing on this. Not to be a bitch about it, but to just show you exactly what is going on so you will not be surprised when you order. If I nidpick on something that you do not see as a problem, you are super free to not see it as a problem. This is just a detailed run throught about everything I noticed.
So, here you see all parts that were included. But I will show them to you seperately. There will be a PRO and CONTRA summary at the end of this (for those peepz, who need the shortcut lol)!
THE DRESS
So this is the dress. Probably my favorite part of the costume. I like the fabric choices they made. Look at this great fabric with the little pattern on it! I also love the embroidery they did on the center piece and the trim. The cups are padded, but I think they could have been sewn a little better. The fabric made some little bumps on the center line of the cup. The back of the dress is quiet open and made with a silky, but stetchy fabric. The zipper is on the side of the dress. The zipper sadly broke directly when I put it on (the size M dress) and I had to exchange it. The zipper on the Size S dress worked. The skirt is all fluffy and poofy and I like the laser cut trim at the edge of the skirt. The dress (for size S and M…actually they are the same lenght) is really lovely, but very short for my taste. I think it would have looked better if it would be at least 5cm longer….better even 10 or 15cm. I have a quiet average height in my country (168cm) and I know this is very tall compared to most girls from Asian countries. I know this is an Asian shop, but I had outfits from other shops where the proportions of bodice and skirt were made better fitting to taller girls (but still looking good on shorter girls as well). I think this is even very short on girls who are smaller than me as well. But let’s show the next part.
THE VEST
This is the Vest you wear on top of the dress. It is made from fake leather. It is stretchy in the back and you close it in the front with buckles. The buckles are really pretty and decorated. The key decorations are satin-stitched on. It is a little bit unclean made on the trim part of the sides of the vest (you can see it on the 1st picture), but that was the only thing I found that could have been better. Beside that part, I really like how it was made.
THE GARTERBELT
Alice also has a garterbelt. It is made from the same type of fabric as the vest and the dress. It is stretchy around the waist and closes with velcro. The leg parts are also closable with velcro. They also have a spot to velcro-in the stockings to stay up. I really like the pattern on this and the little lily buttons. Because of the stretchy part it kinds slips a bit down while wearing, even if you made it tight. So remember to make this a bit tighter than you actually would usually do, to avoid it slipping down while moving.
THE BELT
Here is the part that arrived last: the belt. it is made from fake leather and the clock is made from some kind of plastic. The blue and golden parts are printed on (or ironed/pressed on). It is really pretty. Sadly, during the shipping a tiny piece of the clock broke off. The belt is kinda stiff and will not wrap that elegantly around the waist. It would have been better to make it in a little curve, instead of a straight line, to lay better around the waist.
THE NECKLACE
I really like this piece. It is super pretty. It arrived in the 2nd packet, together with the belt. You will need to bend it (gently) towards the outside a little or it will poke the skin on your neck too much. It is made from plastic and bendable, but be careful when you do that, so nothing breaks off.
THE GLOVES
Alice has two different gloves. One black, long glove and one short blue glove. The long, black glove is probably the nicest satin glove I had so far XD. The satin is super silky, but also thick. I like it a lot. The blue glove has a pattern printed on and attacked to it is Alice‘ ehm…magic thingi ribbon XD? I dunno what to call it *LOL*. It is made from transparent organza and printed on a pattern. there is wire inside, so you can wrap it around your arm. Crazy character designs XD.
THE BOW
The dress also has a bow to pin on. The fabric is some thicker chiffon. They also made the damage from her design at the edges of the bow. I think it might have had a bit more stand with some interfacing inside but I could also pin it nicely on the back with safety pins.
FLAME HEADDRESS
Alice has two blue flames on her head and the Uwowo costume set comes with 2 different head dresses. One with small blue flames and one with super long organza blue flames.
For my Alice, I actually made my own flire headdress from Worbla’s Transpa Art and IDyePoly, because I had a cool idea how to make it.
Also included was a petticoat that was a bit like a hoop skirt with a layer of tull on top. I sadly could not wear that one because the dress was so short that this hoopskirt exposed my whole rack XD. So I used a normal full tull fluffy petticoat. I also recommend that to everyone who does not want to showcase the booty too much lol.
SO, here we are at the recap….the PRO AND CONTRA!
POSITIVE:
- I really like the fabrics. Specially the black one with the little pattern from the dress. Also the gray fabric is very soft and nice
- The embroidery is well done
- The big buckle is really cool
- The ironed-on patterns on the garterbelt and the big belt are really clean and look very good
- The necklace is great
- The backside of the dress is really stunning with the open cut-out parts
NEGATIVE:
- For most average sized European women, the dress will be really really short.
- The proportion between the bodice and the skirt would need to be different. The bodice would need to be longer and the skirt as well. I know making the whole thing shorter gives you the illusion of longer legs in a costume, but it seriously would have been better if the whole thing would be longer
- The sewing on a few parts is a bit sloppy on the middle seam of the cups and the edges of the vest.
- The whole problem with the missing costume part made me really nervous and stressed out for a while. Missing pieces and sending wrong items after a reclamation should not happen.
I think the „price vs product quality“-ratio is really good on this dress. You get good quality for not too much money.
Recommendations before ordering:
If you are taller than 170cm, this will probably not be the best fit for you. To get a good proportion, you should be smaller than that. The bigger sizes are not really longer. So go and look at your chest and waist meassurements and order the size that fits to that. Do not go for the L just because you think it will be longer (it does not really make a difference). Because of the costume design it is super hard to take in the waist line on this, so better go for a size that has the fitting waist meassurement for you.
And now I will show you a couple of photos of me wearing this outfit (wearing the size S dress):
