Guesting at World Cosplay Summit 2022 as Champions
Elffi and I were invited as guests for the World Cosplay Summit 2022 in Nagoya.
As previous champions from the contest in 2021 we were now judges for the 2022 championship. Beside the contest, the WCS also arranges multiple amazing events on the days leading up to the grand finale.
First of all, it felt so unreal to see our cosplay photos of Jessie and Biggs from Final Fantasy 7 all over the subway, the shopping mall and all other places on the official World Cosplay Summit posters.
Ready for the red carpet walk
This year’s walk went down some really long stairs. During the walk, an amazing live orchestra played songs from anime and video games.
It was such a beautiful moment.

Because not every selected team could come to Japan this year we had two divisions.
1.) The stage division for all teams who could come to Japan and stand on the big stage. 2.) The video division for all teams to send in their prerecorded cosplay videos.
On the next day we were heading to the big stage show, set up at a theater in Nagoya.
The stage championship begins
It was an honor to be judge for the championship on stage! The costumes and performances were amazing.
I love judging contests and this one will forever be one of the most memorable shows for me.

Congratulations to the 2022 winner: Team France!
During the stage championship, the whole city center is full of cosplayers and beautifully illuminated. It was so much fun to take photos in this beautiful setting.
Video championship at OASIS 21
All videos of the teams were shown during an outdoor event at the Oasis 21 center. Plenty of cosplayers and people coming from everywhere to attend.
We also judged the video contest. The videos were absolutely outstanding!

We had a wonderful experience and could meet so many wonderful people.
I will forever cherish the memory of this event.
And in good old World Cosplay Summit fashion, the last day is an onsen tour with everyone going a a trip to just celebrate and enjoy themselves.
